"Hamilton"
I arrived back at the clinic at about noon to find the foal in a full coma with some mild seizure-like behavior. At this stage, I knew the foal was a dummy. A dummy foal is a foal that probably doesn't get enough oxygen during birth. They are often normal at birth and then crash the next day or several hours later due to swelling of the brain. This foal was showing symptoms within a few hours of birth. Hamilton looked like he was very dehydrated, despite his short life, and was giving some mouthing behavior that signals death is imminent. Sandy had tried n vain (pun intended yet again) to catheterize the vein.
